The Life and Mind of a Serial Entrepreneur

The Life and Mind of a Serial Entrepreneur

Some people just have the “business bug.”

“I bet we could market that!”

“That looks like a great investment!”

“Don’t you think it’d be fun to own/run (insert new business idea.)”

These are just a few of the common phrases you may hear coming from the mouth of a “serial entrepreneur.”

Two things these individuals are never short on are new ideas and enthusiasm. They see business opportunities everywhere and they are riveted by the potential.

Sound familiar?!

Perhaps you have one such individual in your close circle of friends or family. Or maybe, the serial entrepreneur in your life is…YOU.

If so, congratulations!

There’s a lot to appreciate and cherish about the “serial entrepreneur”. These individuals tend to:

  • Have a “big picture” mindset.
These individuals see “potential” where others see “problems.” This allows them to not get too bogged down or upset by small details or setbacks. Instead, they’re often able to power through difficult moments because the larger vision and mission keep them motivated and engaged in the process.
  • Set clear goals.
Ask a serial entrepreneur what they’re trying to achieve, and they’ll likely be able to describe to you their utopian vision for life or business in vivid detail. They know exactly what they hope to accomplish.
  • Have an abundance of ambition and motivation.
“Couch potato” are two words you’ll never hear associated with a serial entrepreneur. Their enthusiasm for each new idea and opportunity will have them giving 110% to whatever they choose to pursue.

As with all personality tendencies or behavioral habits, the serial entrepreneur will have his or her struggles as well. A few may include:

  • Difficulty with practical details.
While their “big picture” minds can describe the end goal in vivid detail, these individuals may struggle to clearly define (or execute on) the small practical details required to get from point A to point B.
  • Being easily distracted.
It’s difficult to deny the allure of a new opportunity or idea, and these individuals find inspiration everywhere! While, in most cases, this is a tremendous gift, it can also lead serial entrepreneurs to being easily sidetracked or distracted from the task at hand. Rather than finishing a project they’ve already started, they can quickly find themselves down the “research rabbit hole” exploring a new and entirely different idea.

Maximizing the strengths of this powerful personality trait and embracing the areas in need of growth is a process that takes time, patience, and accountability. Where better to begin this growth journey than in a community of intentional goal-setters like yourself?!
