Could You Use A Transformation?

Could You Use A Transformation?

Can I ask you a personal question?

Have you ever found yourself in a bit of a rut? It doesn’t have to be anything major…but a time when things have just felt “off.”

Perhaps the old habits and routines you’ve relied on to keep your life and work functioning at a high level just don’t seem to have the same power they once did? Or maybe life has thrown you a curveball (or two) and you’re struggling to get your bearings as you transition? Perhaps you’ve found yourself questioning what it is you actually want

I’ve been there. I’m guessing you have too.

Let’s face it, sometimes we all find ourselves feeling a little stuck, in need of some change. This is normal. At some point or another, each of our lives, businesses, relationships (you name it) will be needing a transformation!

The concept of “transformation” implies taking something that already exists and creating a better version of it.

So let me ask you…what part of your life (or business) could use a transformation?

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Not me! I’m good.” I’m going to encourage you to think again. While some parts of your life may be functioning exceptionally well, there is always something that could be improved.

Why is this important to think about?

You’ve probably heard of Dr. Carol Dweck’s legendary growth mindset concept. According to Dweck, individuals with a growth mindset believe that their skills and abilities can be developed. Old skills can be improved and new skills can be acquired.

In other words, people who possess a growth mindset are constantly open to transformation.

This is a GOOD thing!

It’s the reason that these individuals tend to be more successful than their “fixed mindset” counterparts. Part of having a growth mindset is being open to the reality that parts of your life may need to be improved, adjusted, or evaluated. Part of your life may need to be transformed.

Maybe it’s your habits or daily routines. Are they truly serving you and your goals? Perhaps you’re operating old, outdated assumptions about what is needed or important. You may have a specific relationship that could use some attention. Or maybe there are processes you utilize in your work that could use some tweaking?

Now that we’ve established that we all could use a transformation of some kind, let’s dig into the meat and potatoes. Here are a few reflection questions to guide you through the process of identifying which areas of your life are ready to be transformed!

  • What assumptions have you made about yourself (or your work) that could be standing in the way of growth and progress?
  • Are your future plans based on who you are today or who you used to be? How might these plans need tweaking or refining?
  • Are there specific habits that you need to achieve your goals? Are you doing these things? If not, why?
  • Are there goals you’ve set for yourself that no longer seem relevant or important? Do they need to be adjusted or eliminated?
  • What are your highest priorities in life and business? Do your calendar and daily schedule reflect your priorities? If not, what can you change?

I highly encourage you to take some time for self-reflection. I won’t lie to you, it takes some work! BUT – the time you put into pursuing transformative growth will be time well spent.
